Plants.....Until there eaten...........

Has anybody got any suggestions as to what plants i can keep with my clown(1 have 7 between 3" and 6" long) I have tried every plant the lfs has and they either eat the leaves or dig them up and nibble the roots.either way after about a week all i have left are stumps in the gravel or rootless plants floating on the top of the water. I have also tried wedging the plants between rocks but they just eat the tops

Any responces would be gratefully recieved as my tank is looking a bit bare at the moment
