Thai onion (Crinum thaianum) seems to be pretty loach-proof in my tank. Get ones with good healthy bulbs; weak bulbs will rot and smell bad. The loaches may dig them up, but I don't think they'll eat them.

Have you tried feeding veggies to your loaches? Zucchini (blanched to make it sink) has been suggested on this forum in the past. Sometimes feeding them veggies is supposed to reduce the plant-eating habit.
