It is the same procedure used for blanching, but since "blanch" means "to make white" - as in removing the skins of almonds, "parboil" seemed more appropriate. Sorry to have caused confusion!
Parboil - "To boil briefly as a preliminary or incomplete cooking procedure" - Websters
