Tears of a Clown-loach

Yesterday I added two good-sized clown loaches to my 35 gallon community tank. I had given up on loaches because the three smaller-sized ones that I previously owned harassed my angel fishes all day long, nipping at their fins and such. However, I saw these new loaches in a tank with other angels at the pet store, and they were leaving them alone so I figured what the hey! Try again.

Strangely enough, this morning I find that the loaches are not hanging out together. I thought clowns were very social animals. My previous three were inseparable. Instead, only one of them is out and about, being active (in fact, he is behaving much more like one of my cories than a loach) while the other sits at the back of the tank, as though he is pining over a lost love.

I know it is recommended to have no fewer t
