Indian Pattern Loach????

Just got back from a visit to a local garden centre/pet shop, and I've just seen some loaches marked up as "Indian Pattern Loach". These guys are not botias, about 2.5-3" SL, base white, with silver grey markings in an interlaced chevron pattern (like a high-performance tyre tread). These guys were mixed in with some very sick looking clowns, ornary-garden plecs, and some parrot cichlids (this place has NO idea how to keep fish). At 4.75 a shot, these guys were overpriced IMO, but they looked nice. I guess these guys would be better off in a river tank style aquarium. Their nature was very calm, no aggression between them or any other fish, and quite sedentary. Any ideas as to a scientific name???
