for what it's worth, shark, i picked up 4 striatas the other week, and they were labeled "tiger botia", so perhaps this common "misnomer" is becoming pervasive in the trade. the complex of species usually known as tiger botias are very much different from the striatas in terms of size as well as temperament(ive seen tigers over 8"...but no striatas much over 3". plus, striatas are sweethearts, tigers can be ruff). anyways, if they look like the botia striata you've seen pictured here on LOL, thats prolly what they are...
