CPVC subway

I just recently installed an eight inch CPVC pipe tunnel in my gravel (Well, it has elbows that poke out of the gravel). The funny thing is that my loaches (2 black kuhlis and 1 dojo) don't like it at all. The kuhlis are small so they can fit into it and I suppose Dojo could as well (Oh...now THERE's an original name...). Do you think they will find the entrance in time or do I need some wider PVC?
