tank shape for clowns?

Hi folks: My next tank (a few months down the road) will hopefully house some clown loaches and green tiger barbs. (I've read this combo is compatible; if not, let me know!) I have a chance to pick up a 35 gallon tank with a stand for $100; the catch is, it's hexagonal. Is this an OK shape for loaches? I'm guessing longer would be better, but the price is tempting. Also, the kuhli loaches have settled into the 37g. nicely, and even come out during the day and when the light's on. And the "mystery loach" turned out to be a bumblebee catfish, although mine has much shorter "whiskers" than the ones I've seen pictures of.
