Loaches wont eat zuchini

I tried feeding my loaches some zuchini so they would leave my sword plants alone but they just kind of look at it :) Like whats this.... Am I not preparing it right? I read that you can microwave them for about 30 sec. I cut off a 1/4 inch slice and weighed it down with a small rock in the tank... none of them are eating it. Any suggestions??
