urgent advice for a new parent needed!!

hey guys...been changing job so i haven't been able to check out the site for a while.

anyways heres my Question....

i finaly got my new tank up and running. I got a hold of two khuli loaches, one stripped, one black. The stripped one was a bit lazy, and didnt seem to be to active. He died a few days later. But since they were the last two in the shop, i just thought, oh well...u gotta have some fish deaths eventualy.

The black one has been alive and thriving ever since. I had to go away for a week on a training coarse, and left the fish in the perfect care of my mother.

I just got back today, to find the black loach has developed a white mark about 1/2 inch behind his dorsal fin (he is about 2.5 3 inches long atm).
