Kind of off topic...

This is not actually about loaches (even though I do have 3 clowns :) ), but I figured you guys could help me any way. Well about 2 weeks ago I started a Co2 injection system..the homemade kind with yeast, sugar, etc. Since then my filter cartridge clogs up everyday... with that brownish algae looking stuff. Is this related in anyway to the co2? Possibly helping the algae grow faster?
