And my clowns are pleased!

Hi all,

Well, it's done, even though the tank has only been running for two weeks. The 55 (believe it or not) is at zero ammonia and .25 nitrite as of last night, down from .5 a day ago. The bacteria is happy, the amazon sword is helping, the bio-wheels rule, and my clowns are pleased. That's right - they're in the 55! Yippee!

Or at least, that's what THEY seem to be saying! It's been 36 hours now, and I saw more of them yesterday evening than every evening of the week before in the twenty! Whoohoo!

I'm keeping the 20 at the same tropical temperature and my swordtail and a couple shrimp in it to keep it cycled and clean; for the next several days in case the fish need a temporary removal from the big one, it will be available. After that, the corys will move in and I'll start dropping the temperature, preparing for weather loaches and dojos, and maybe it's own bristlenose (got one planned for the 55 too). With algae eaters and bottom feeders in both tanks, and my budget slowly rebounding from the sudden strain of the aquarium stand, I see everything being complete and running smooth by the end of the year - yippee! I also found out that a friend of mine has a scanner, so there may just be photos soon too - time to whip the crumby fish section of my homepage into shape!

In other news, the fungus is now living in my gravel vacuum tube instead of my 55, the white stuff has stopped appearing and the water fleas in my 20's filter box have mysteriously disappeared in a a bout of cloudy water (fixed by changing the filter). So all of a sudden ... everything's good!

Anyway, just wanted to spread the joy. Tibor and his clowns are happy campers! :-)

Tibor.
