velvet :-(

My poor little clown didn't make it.... Now I have Velvet in my tank, and my poor little Tetras have been dying like flies despite medication!!

Now I'm down to 2 clowns who at the moment seem healthy and happy, I will be getting a new friend for them (but not before I get a quarantine tank and my tank is disease free!!). Will the two be ok on their own for a while? I've read on this board that they should be kept in groups of 3 at the smallest - but I don't want to risk introducing any more disease!! Also, how long would you recommend quarantining new fish?

I've got another question, while at my lfs buying yet more medicine, I noticed some large clowns (40 pounds!!!! They were about 7 inches long!!), they didn't seem to have the normal clown pattern, but were more blotched with black. Do their colours alter as they grow, or were these fish hatched like it (I haven't seen clowns bigger than about 3 inches before!!)?

Sorry about all the questions
Elf
