Salt and medication for scaleless fishes

I was wondering if someone (Iris? Iris?) could compile a list which describes how sensitive various botias are to salt and medicines.

I'm interested in determining the sensitivity of Clowns, Modestas, Coolies, and the Spiny Eels.

I've heard that for all of these fish, you cannot add salt to the water. I've heard and read that when treating with medications, regardless of the type, you must use a half-dose. If the medicine says to repeat daily then you add a half-dose daily.

Are the species I have listed above all similar in these requirements? And what is your preferred treatment for Ick-- an anti-ick medication or straight malachite green?
