I cant seem to keep Kuhli Loaches!

I have looked at all the info I have available to me 'easy to keep' and 'ideal for community tanks' being memorable quotes.

I bought 2 Kuhli Loaches from a shop about 3 weeks ago and that following weekend I bought 2 more at a diffrent shop (these ones having stripes that went halfway down the body and not all the way to the stomach. I know they do best in a group.

The community tank is established, I have had a couple of fish die 'recently' but for individual reasons.

It houses one red finned albino shark (acceps certain fish in his aquarium without any fuss, inc Kuhli's), Ottos, Corys, bristle nosed cat fish, 1 upsidown catfish, 2 platties (red finned shark only acceps these because they were there before him!), 1 female fighting fish and tetras.
