Acidic tank

My 5 gallon tank keeps turning acidic. It has small round brown pebbles (size 3?) and an undergravel filter. I put in crypts and sword plants. All the crypts died in a few days along with snails and a small gourami. After I teared down everything and washed the whole tank; I put 2 sword plants, 2 honey gouramis, and small snails back in. In a few days, the tank turned acidic again and killed more snails.

There's no hydrogen sulfide gas bubble. Could it be the gravel?
