Interesting Horseface behaviour

I've had my horsefaces for a couple of years now, for most of that time in a 20G but this weekend moved into a 30G, and last night saw two different behaviour traits that I've never witnessed before.
The first was when I got home from work. Unusually the 2 horsefaces were out and about looking for food (they usually stay buried until late at night) so I sat down to watch. After a couple of minutes they started darting backwards and forwards across the front of the tank in "kuhli fashion"... then they left the substrate for the first time ever and started darting up and down the glass at one end of the tank. I was gobsmacked! These fish rarely moved in the 20G and now they're swimming around like danios or something.
