Danio's all you can eat buffet/ B.modesta question

as you may have gathered from the subject line I am having a problem with my zebra danios...well I guess it is more of a problem with my blue Botias (Botia Modesta) these two guys have been in my quarantine tank since new years eve, along with a group of eight zeb. danios. The problem is we are now down to six danios, one tailless, one with a bite in his back, and one with a bite in the belly the fist two are doing great swimming around and eating and every thing the last I think I may lose. now I got these danios knowing that one or two would probably get eaten every once in a while (either by the loachs now or more likely,or so I thought, by the chiclids later) but it is happening a lot more often than I appreciate (I know it sounds a little heartless but, fact of life "big fish eat little fish") I belive it is happening when I feed them, the danios are distracted and the loach thinks all the food is his and he is willing to defend it. I don't really know if anything can be done to help with this problem but thanks for reading.

The other question is, I plan to move the loachs and danios to my 55 gal chiclid tank but I know that two is a bad number for B. Modestas, my other question is do you think I should get one more or three, making the total either three or five? the tank is currently housing a cobalt zebra, a blue johanni, and an electric yellow. I plan to get two more electric yellows to keep my one company. but I don't want to over load the tank. The thing was I figured that if the chic's decided to get nasty a larger group of the loachs would be better.

Suggestions, advise, comments?

ps. do you think I should put in the loachs I have now then the other/others later or wait and just put the new ones in quarantine with these two and add them all to the 55 at once, in a few weeks of course.

Thanks for reading,
~SOS~
