UV Sterilizers for ick ???

Anyone familiar with UV sterilizers ? Are they effective for "controlling" ick ? I say "controlling" purposely because i think it may not cure an existing ick outbreak if it is turned on after the ick arrises. (maybe it may work this way, i dont know). But what if it is left on continuously as mostly recomended ? Will this "prevent" the ick from arrising initially ? UV sterilizers are advertised for controlling parasites and algae but I never saw anything for them on ick. Also not much of the ick parasites are suspended in free form to pass through the UV sterilizer, most of the ick eggs are on the fish leaving it not accessable to the UV sterilizer. Please offer any knowledge on this.
