Blotchy Clowns

Hi everyone. Before I start this, I know that my clowns are not infected with any bacterial or fungal type of disease. I'm confident of that. What I don't understand is this blotchyness on the black band. It reminds me of grease spots on pavement.

It's not the black spot thing that a few posters have noticed and which Joe Loach had treated some years ago, but just a little stranger than that.

Let me also mention that I've been keeping my tank a little cooler than usual--from 82-84 to 78-80. I'm wondering if there's any relationship between temp and markings.

Anyone ever encounter something like this?
