river tank

I have completed construction of my new 50 gallon river tank, complete with waterfall and need suggestions on how to populate it. Ideally the aquarium would be endemic or at least native to cold water rivers/streams of southeast Asia.

Obvious first options are Hillstream and Kuhli Loaches... What else: killifish, rasborras, shellfish, frogs...?

There will be one corner of about 5 gallons with semi-still water and the temperature about 70-72 F (room temp).
