Weather Loach and Gas

Hey all,
First time posting...was hoping if I could get some expert advice about a strange behavior my loach exhibited today. He was floating near the bottom of the tank, after a quick bout of the 'loach crazies' (as I like to call their frantic swimming movements), in major 'loach snooze' mode. Then, quite surprising to me, a gas bubble floated up from near his anal area. About a minute later, he started gasping pretty strongly, and a series of gas bubbles where released from his middle area. This wasn't just a few bubbles, it was a lot! Then, almost as quickly as it started, it stopped, and he settled back down for a snooze. I watched him for another 20 minutes or so, and he behaved completely normally. I'll keep an eye on him, and think that he is ok, but I'd love to know what happened. Is t
