I run an airstone in my 55g community/loach tank with glass lids. A large green patch is always forming on the glass above where the airstone bubbles meet the water surface. The other night I peeled off an approx 6"x3" piece of this material and let it sink to the floor of the tank. I don't think that most of the loaches were too impressed but some of the other tank inhabitants loved it. The BN pleco in particular couldn't put it down and the RTBS was running off anyone who got near it. The UD catfish also got into the act. I'm not sure if the common pleco indulged later on (I went to bed) or not. The next day, there was no trace left.

I'm don't know about the merits of doing this or if anyone else
