Scavengers for hillstream tank-necessary?

A question especially to the hillstream lovers. I have witnessed with my Gastromyzon that they are not very effective in finding all pieces of food I have added (as for example corys). That has been no problem so far since I keep other bottom dwellers that will clean up the mess. Since I plan to set up a tank for my Gastros and maybe some Schistura I`d like to know if leftover food has posed a problem in such a tank for any of you and if I should keep some scavengers with them.
