Mysterious Pangio (???)

My LFS normally doesn't carry loaches, but I have had the owner special-order some for me recently. Well, today she discovered a "snake-like" fish that she didn't know she had. One of the tanks at the store overflowed and this little guy ended up on the floor. She scooped it up and called me to see if I could identify it.

I went to look at it, but I had never seen one like it before. Unfortunately, I noticed that it had a bacterial infection. She let me have the fish, and I'm going to try to nurse it back to health in my hospital tank.

This appears to be a member of the genus Pangio. Its body structure looks like that of a typical kuhli loach, but it is perhaps a bit longer and much more slender. The coloration is a very dark olive with small, black specks that follow no particul
