Could Touching Fish Be Harmful?

We're aware that touching a fish with dry hands comprimises their protective slime coating, but could touching them in the water be harmful to them too?

The reason I ask is because we love to hand feed our loaches. In the clown tank, the clowns, skunks and striatas will swim through our hands and between our fingers. We can even cradle them in our hands. We practicaly don't need to use a net if we ever need to net them out of the tank...just hold our hand in a cupped postion during feeding, and gently lift them out! It's so much fun to actually pet the bigger sized clowns....they're so soft!

In the modesta tank though, we have to guzzle half a bottle of whisk
