Ich and Salt

Well, I figured it would happen. I just got home from work and my baby clowns in Q tank have ich today. :(
(I was getting all proud of myself, no ich and they've been in there over a week.)
I'm raising the temp now and thought I might try adding salt, but I was curious as to how long this usually takes to work. These are pretty small babies (~1.25 in) and I don't want to let it go too long. The last time this happened I used Rid Ich, which worked great, but turned the tank seals green.
So, how long does it take for salt to get rid of ich? (or get to the center of a tootsie pop?) ;)
Thanks
