Dr. Momfish or anyone: Levamisole

I'd like to deworm my modesta. I called a livestock supplier for Levamisole Hydrochloride. He doesn't have the injectable, he only carries the tablets and a water soluble powder. The water soluble powder is cheapest at $13 a bottle. It contains 18.15% levamisole. Can I use this? Would the dose 800mg/10 gal (US) be the same as is with the injectable. I forgot to ask him what else was on the ingredient list of this product.
Also, my tap water is hard. I was thinking of gradually adding distilled water to the tank with each water change to try to bring the Ph down to the proper range. Is this OK? What else could I do to bring it down temporarily for the treatment?
