Whilst THE game was going on, my Homaloptera zollingeri decided that things were obviously going so great (North of the border) that they should take this up-beat opportunity to spawn.
I actually caught them 'at it' for the first time.
Quite interesting behaviour. The female was sitting with her head resting on a piece of wood, with her tail buried in gravel at the bottom of a pit they had dug. The male danced backwards and forwards over her head, keeping contact with it via his chin. Every so often the female would shimmy her tail, scattering gravel, and the male would zip down to her side and I guess he was fertilizing at that point. I MAY have seen an egg, but I'm not sure because there was a bit of debris disturbed. They also had dug a cave at the other end of the tank between two rocks and also dissapeared into that. I could see activity in the bottom of the cave, so I guess they were spawning there also.
Oh heck......MORE babies! :)
Martin.
