Annoying loachie behavior(long)

About a week ago I changed out most of my tanks and gave my botias better homes. How do they pay me back? By driving me nuts!!(no comments on the distance of that drive please)
First of all, the leptobotias have stepped up their attempts to swim into the Eclipse filter, making all kinds of splashing noises late at night. This morning, for some reason, I looked underneath at the bottom of the tank and saw one of those mischeivious leptos and a dario UNDER the ug filter plate, looking at me like they just got caught with their fins in the shrimp pellets I knew they couldn't get under the edges of the filter plate since it fits tight. THen I noticed they had dug down, popped the cap off the lift tube fitting and gone under the plate.(I'm sure the lepto did it) Inorder to get them out, I just put a strong light aimed up at the bottom and that chased them out. The lepto went quickly but the dario took some coaxing. I then sealed the hole with a piece of plastic canvas and put the cap on better and covered it with a rock. I thought about leaving this open, but I probably would end up with all of them down there. In another tank I have my nigrolineata, a schistura and three striatas. The striatas hide lots but I could only account for two of the three. I wondered if one had died or jumped out. After looking for two days and even checking the Eclipse filter, I found nothing. Finally, this morning, I found the third one under the biowheel in the Eclipse filter. Usually if they get in the filter, they are behind the biowheel or on the filter pad? Somehow, this fish had gotten past the plastic canvas screen that I use to keep fish from swimming up the outflow and was under the biowheel. The same screen was keeping it from getting back into the tank. When I finally got him out, he seemed very happy to get back into the tank. Now if they would just all behave and quit driving me nuts!!!
