Clown Loach Behavior Freaking Me Out!

I'm new at this; I have a community tank that's doing well -- active, hungry fish. I brought a clown loach home yesterday. I read about them liking a place to hide so he has a small pottery jug on its side and he seems to like going in there. Now, I understand that clowns do some strange things, but how strange is strange? He's been in the "cave" for a few hours now, sometimes on his side, sometimes doing like a tail stand, sometimes just resting on the bottom. Is this normal? How long do they normally stay inside? Should I be worried? He's totally freaking me out!!!

Thx.

Marna
