White spot??

A couple of days a go my Botia Striata developed a cluster of about 10 small white spots on its head. I naturally remedied it with some anti white-spot. I have never had a disease in my tank so I am pretty inexperienced and I have begun to worry that it might not be whitespot. None of my other fish have been affected and the spots are localized to the botia's head only. They are very small and it's definatley not velvet. Could it be a fungus or bacterial infection. Water quality is generally good in my tank and the fish doesn't appear stressed. Any information would be welcome.

If it is whitespot, how long will it roughly take for the spots to go? I understand treatments only kill the free-swimming stage. How will I know the treatment is working? <
