Julie - if your fish are glancing off objects then you have a problem.

Check your water quality as this is the most likely - Ammonia, nitrite and nitrate should be as close to 0 as you can get them and higher levels will make your fish glance.

They may not look like they have any diseases but they could have ick on their gills where you cant see it - if your water quality is good then they should be able to fight ick themselves but keep an eye out for any spots.

If you are medicating your tank, check the dosage is safe for loaches as, with them being classified as scaleless, they can get burnt by strong meds.

Lastly, keep an eye out for gill flukes - you would see these if your fish have them.
