How I finally saw my loaches again....

I figured out how to get the loaches out from under their driftwood tonight: just make it worth their while. I have six new zebra loaches, and they clicked all the way home but then sat silently under their log for the next week. They’d come out occasionally to look around the tank a little, but scurry right back if I was anywhere near. And they were silent. They didn’t come out for a whole live red wiggler (too much worm?), for sinking carnivore pellets, for sinking shrimp pellets, for bits of frozen bloodworms or for freeze dried tubifex worms (although I did find some suggestively empty snail shells showing they came out sometimes when I wasn’t around).
