Botia nigrolineata growth rate?

My Botia Nigrolineata seems to never grow. At the moment he insists on living under a rock and is in my river tank. I see him frequently enough to know he doesn't seem to have the problem with skinniness I've heard from others about this species. He seems to be stuck at about 1 1/2-2 inches though. I don't think he's grown since I got him, though he has started to develop slight patterning on his back. Whenever he is out he is almost never on the bottom, always swimming around in the water flow, about mid-level.

Are nigros slow growers in general? I'll try to get a pic of him tomorrow, as if he doesn't see me first I can normally see him in the morning, very fast though.

What gives
