In the last week I have noticed that "lizard cats" are back on the market in good numbers. The ones that I have seen have been very large (up to 3" or 7cm), well marked, and representative of at least three species(the usual H. smithi, H. zollingeri and an unknown homaloptera species that was showing up a few months ago). I saw some really nice ones yesterday, and was very tempted to get a large, very attractive, unknown homaloptera and a very large, well marked H. smithi. But, I really need to save space for something I don't have. But, more importantly, I noticed ich on a couple of fish in the tank. Other than the ich though, the fish were very fat and healthy looking. So, fans of such fish should keep your eyes open. It seems as if the "loachy season" may be a bit early this year with striata, leptobotia gulliensis, and the "lizard cats" making early appearances.
