My area has such soft water that my test kit won't even measure it. However, the Ph as it comes out of the tap is almost 8.
Of course, with the KH that low, the Ph is subject to some pretty wild swings. I have some coral substrate sand in one of my filter baskets, but it doesn't seem to be raising the KH very fast. Recently I've started using a Ph buffer (Proper Ph) to keep things stable, but it seems to be making my water cloudy (even with the UGF), and I'm worried about what might be included in the buffer that is bad for the fish.
With such soft water, I thought about using something like Recon 50 just to make sure the fish are getting everything they need, but thought I'd see what you guys think first.
