Battery Backup for your tanks?

I've been tossing the idea around for a while of setting up a UPS for the large tank. I was wondering if anyone has ever done this for a large setup, and if they did, what did they protect?

I'm thinking that it would be silly to put a battery backup on the lights and heaters, as they would drain it dry very quickly. The canister filters though, they only use about 25-40 watts each.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
