For Gareth: About Fertilizing Plants

When I bought my first live plant (see my Profile for the details of my tank) I bought some PLANT GRO Iron Enriched Aquatic Plant Fertilizer 0.15-0-0. But SusanA suggested that until I get my tank cycled (see previous post) I not mess with such things. So I have not used it yet and can return it if you say I bought the wrong product.

I have three questions:

1. It says to add a capful or 5 ml per 10 gal. Would you then add 1/3 that amount each time you replace 1/3 of the water?

2. How do you know if the plants need more fertilizer (or less)?

3. How do you know if the plants need more light (or less)?

Thanks so much, Peter
