Pumpkin is a bad idea

Last night I carved a tiny pumpkin and dropped it into a small 2-gallon tank with water from my 55 and an airstone. First it developed a fuzzy exterior, then pieces started floating, and then what looked like betta bubble nests started developing on the surface of the by then very cloudy water.

Cut a small chunk out before dropping it in and put that in the clown tank. This morning found it uneaten, with a long bit of rind that looks like a tapeworm floating at the top. Gross.

FYI.
