Aqua Pharm's Water Softener Pillow

hello all,

My tap comes in around 170ppm GH and figure my loaches and plants would be happier at a lower hardness. I'm thinking about using AP's water softener pillow. Based on some forums, people stae that the active resin in this product(styrene D.B.V. resin) exchanges calcium and magnisium for sodium. I did a Google search for this type of resin and did not find anywhere about the sodium part. Does anybody here have experience/opinion on this matter?

TIA,
hOrM
