hullo peeps, I have a question regarding setting up a tank with sand. My dad got a 30 gallon from me for his birthday, (what a surprise eh?) and he has done a lot of research and decided on a sand bottom. My question is this, does the bacterial colony populate sand the same way as they do gravel? I am wondering about the properties of sand with regards to weight. I know in my 90, the gravel has spaces that allow for O2 and water to pass through but in sand its much more dense. So, will it take longer for a biobed to establish in a sand subtrate tank? Eventually he will have a school of 20-30 neons or cards and apprx 5 bronze corys. He is no
