Feeder Guppies for Tiger Botia?

Do any of you feed live fish? I had a hard time getting around the humane aspects of doing this, but my tiger botia is absolutely thriving after a couple of weeks of putting in a dozen or so of these per week. Fortunately, he hasn't been terrorizing them, but only grabs one and takes it into his lair (hollow log) to eat it. My question is this: should I set up a quarantine tank for guppies to avoid introducing illness to the botia? I don't want to feed him these all the time, he gets flake as well.
