I have black mollies in a tank with clowns, tiger barbs, platies and a butterfly pleco. The mollies are always getting fungus, so yesterday I decided to add some salt.
Concerned about possibly affecting the pleco and clowns, I added relatively little salt. Instead of the recommended 1 tbsp per 5 gallons, I pre-disolved only 1 tbsp., then added the solution to the 29 gallon tank. Lo and behold, not only did the salt eradicate the fungus within 24 hours, ALL fish in the tank are more active, and have heartier appetites. Seems to me that if you take recommendations with a grain of salt (pun intended), things can go a long way! :-)
