Drip Loops and Fires

When I got a new heater recently and read the instructions about making a "drip loop" I wondered if that had come up in the discussion about Cybermeez' fire. I checked and yes, JD brought it up.

I think it's worth mentioning again... should any water run down a cord it should not run into a wall socket or extension cord socket or surge protector or... it should run to a low point in the cord and drip to the floor.

But you can't plan for everything. I remember as a child my mother showing me a newspaper article complete with a picture.
