Hagen QuickFilter for Powerheads (OT)

I thought I'd share this tip for those who might be interested.

Like others, I run Hagen's QuickFilters as pre-filters on my powerheads. And, like others, I find they work well for water polishing, but get clogged pretty quickly. Well, the other day I found a workaround that requires no hands-on retrofitting:

The cylindrical sponges for the Fluval 2 and Fluval 3 filters firt perfectly inside the QuickFilter housings. The Fluval 2 sponge fits the small QuickFilter, and the Fluval 3 fits the large QuickFilter. All you have to do is replace the standard Hagen media with the Fulval sponges. And, being that they're sponges rather than poly batting, I expect they'll do wonders for colonizing bacteria. Not only will the sponges serve as extra separate "homes" for bacteria, as a bonus, should I need to cycle another tank, I can temporarily move the powerhead to the new tank, without disturbing the filter on the mature tank.
