Siamese algae eater/loach update

I posted here the other day that I had purchased a small SAE to do algae duty in one of my botia tanks. The small 1.25 in fish seemed to be scared of the tank and its fish and spent most of the time hiding. After a few days of this, I moved the fish to a bigger tank but it still seemed to hide. I got another SAE to keep it company. The new fish hid a bit but soon came out and was grazing algae. Unfortunately, the original fish died. I got another SAE and now have one in both tanks. The second one I got almost immediately came out and started grazing. Apparently the first fish must have had some sort of problem, although it seemed healthy when I got it.
