Bright Lights, Ich and Algae

I only have weak incandescent lighting in my QT and I discovered that bright lighting is significant when you are inspecting for Ich.

I also moved an algae-covered leaf from my main tank to my QT to see if my Molly would eat the algae. I was very surprised to find that the algae that appears dark gray/blackish under the fluorescent lighting in my main tank appeared light green in my QT. Even moreso when I applied a little spot light to look for Ich.

This could be important in trying to identify and treat various types of algae so I thought I'd pass it on.
