a peaceful loach?

to all you loach enthusiasts out there,
In my community tank I have in the past had a problem with small rams-horn snails, that is untill I procured a Botia helodes who has done a fantastic job of keeping the snail population in check. My problem is that now mr helodes is no longer as peacefull as he was, in fact he is downright nasty to the other fish including the many mixed corys in the tank (certainly not a product of lack of space since my tank is 8x2x2ft). Could you knowledgable people out there give me any suggestions for a loach/es that will be a little more peacefull but still be able to keep the snails in check. I have thought of khulis but I dont know if they have a taste for escargot.
Thanks, Matty
