Will loaches help??

I am relatively new to aquariums. I have an extablished 20 gal. tank that currently has two full grown golden angels, one sword tail, & two albino cats. I had four candy tetras that I used as starter fish and have passed them on to another tank. My problem is when I introduced live plants to my system some snails came along for the ride. I have tried to keep up with their reproduction by squishing them for fresh food, but they are overrunning my tank. Will loaches help? What kind? How many? Will they bother my angels? They are the prize of my tank.
